Meet the Family

(not the human kind)

Our farm is home to many four-legged (and sometimes less) critters. They keep us busy and life interesting.

Cuzco and Karl are the curious Alpacas who keep a beady eye on everyone and everything on the farm. Always nosy, they know first if anything is happening on our property.

Brittney and Pepper are our senior horses that are enjoying the retirement life. Brittney was an amish buggy horse and Pepper a trail riding horse for many years. They don’t much care what happens on the property, as long as they are kept well fed.

Our flock of chickens can also be seen pecking their way around the yard on any given day. Hopefully keeping the yard tick and insect free, and supplying us and others with the large eggs that helps them earn their keep.

Scrubb, the beloved golden retriever mascot of Flag Run Farm, is never far from Doug’s heels. His favorite thing is to go on jeep rides. He is friendly and loves greeting our visitors. But don’t believe him when he says he hasn’t ever been fed, he is an expert beggar. Ivy, the neurotic boxer, won't often meet guests, because her overactive little brain cannot handle new people.

Our feline creatures are all rescues of one sort or another. The joke has often been that between the three indoor cats we might have one whole cat. Jo’s profession of veterinary technician has landed her daughter with a three-legged cat named John, her son with a one-eyed cat named Alula, and their whole family with a soul-less cat named Egg. Don’t let her innocent name fool you.

And last but not least, wandering the property is the free spirit gray cat named Corl whose job it is to keep the property mice and chipmunk free. He’s mostly successful.

We hope that someday soon, the farm will be ready for visitors to come and enjoy the lavender and the view. Until then you can follow our progress, and sometimes meet our creatures on our Instagram and Facebook pages!
